Acoustic guitars should not be chosen just for aesthetic reasons

Written by admin on August 27, 2009 – 3:37 am -

Acoustic Guitars' should not be chosen just for aesthetic reasons' Musicians who are thinking of investing in a Gibson acoustic guitar have been advised to ensure it meets all their various requirements. According to Gibson, most players will consider the size of a guitar first, as it must feel comfortable in the lap and under the arm. However, the instrument manufacturer noted that acoustic guitar players need to look at other factors too when choosing which one to buy. Indeed, it said body styles can have a "major impact" on tone, which means a person should look beyond aesthetics and check whether a guitar meets their sonic needs as well. "While size is the most obvious factor in acoustic guitar design, it certainly isn't the be all and end... more

Taylor Big Baby Review

Written by admin on August 27, 2009 – 3:18 am -

Matthew Wig, Guitarist The success of Taylor's smallest and by far its least expensive model, the three-quarter size Baby, introduced back in 1996, may have taken the company by surprise, but, unsurprisingly, Taylor responded with the introduction of another similar, but fuller-figured model. Sticking generally to the same structural and visual template, a full 25.5 inch scale length now replaces the Baby's 22.75 inch scale. An increase in dimensions has created a 15/16ths size dreadnought body, although it is, proportionally, slightly shallower than a regular dreadnought. Yamaha LLX6A Acoustic Guitar Review

Written by admin on August 25, 2009 – 4:34 am -

How good can a non-cutaway electro be at this price? Dave Durban, Guitarist Unlike cutaways, there's not as large a selection of non-cutaway electros and, attracted to the style, we wondered if we could get a high quality guitar of this type without going into four figures. Yamaha has just such a contender: the LLX6A. The LLX6A marks the entry-point into Yamaha's prestigious LLX electro range. Models LLX26 and LLX36 represent the top-end of the series, with the LLX36 coming in at a whopping £3,779. But this is no low-end, entry level guitar – on first impression the LLX6A certainly had us admiring its seemingly flawless Chinese construction and expensive aesthetics. It's easy to see why – Yamaha's Chinese facilities share similar construction... more

The Fender Telecaster

Written by admin on August 22, 2009 – 1:41 am -

The Fender Telecaster's simple yet effective design and revolutionary sound broke ground and set trends in electric guitar manufacturing and popular music. Introduced for national distribution as the Broadcaster in the autumn of 1950, it was the first guitar of its kind to be produced on a substantial scale. Its commercial production can be traced as far back as the spring of 1950, when the single- and dual-pickup Esquire models were first sold. From that time to the present, the Telecaster has been in continuous production in one form or another, making it the world's senior solid-body electric guitar. It was developed by Leo Fender in Fullerton, California in the 1940s. Prior to its creation, the solid-body electric guitar had been created... more

Then again, you might have a decent bass and amp, yet you want to upgrade or simply add to your arsenal. This article will give you pointers on how to go about shopping around for a new axe and amplifier. Before you rush to the music store, do some research first. Some beginning guitarists have difficulty keeping in time with the rhythm while practicing. Many suggested that they would find it beneficial towards their guitar playing if a metronome could be used while they were practicing. The metronome is a great instrument that makes repeated clicking sounds at an adjustable pace and are very useful tools in marking the rhythm of a song! I did some research and found an online site that has a FREE metronome that our valued customers are able to make use of. Check it out at http://www.metronomeonline.com  Read More →
