Fender Road Worn Player Series Telecaster Electric Guitar Review | fender road worn player telecaster

Written by admin on March 28, 2011 – 7:21 pm -

by Adam Perlmutter, Premier Guitar The Player Series Tele marries vintage look and affordability with modern features When Fender introduced its Custom Shop Relic models in the mid-90s, few could have guessed how big the market for relics would become. Guitarists by the score craved vintage authenticity and new-guitar reliability in the same instrument. Replete with strategically placed arm-wear; nicks, dings, and checking; corroded hardware; and other signs of extensive use, Fender’s relics could be dead ringers for their vintage inspirations. But most importantly, these guitars cost a fraction of the price of their predecessors and unlike vintage instruments, were replaceable—handy for touring guitarists who didn’t want to take their... more

Tips and Recommendations for Buying Beginner Electric Guitars

Written by admin on October 9, 2010 – 10:26 am -

Many of sons and daughters are asking for electric guitars as gifts for Christmas, birthdays or just because they have become interested in learing to play one.  What I hope to do in this article is provide some tips and recommendations of selecting that first guitar. Let’s face it, shopping for a guitar can become a tedious and time consuming process, and this is especially true for beginner’s electric guitars. Don’t be overwhelmed. What makes one guitar different from another? Is a guitar that costs $3000 better than one that is $500 or $100? Of course it is, but a more basic question to be asked it whether a beginner needs a top-of-the-line guitar. Every aspiring electric guitar player fantisizes about playing a classic Fender Stratocaster... more

Gibson announces the release of 3 acoustic guitars to celebrate John Lennon’s birthday | gibson john lennon

Written by admin on September 21, 2010 – 1:58 am -

By Jim Dalrymple On October 9, 2010, John Lennon would have been 70 years old. To celebrate the occasion, Gibson partnered with Yoko Ono to release three new acoustic guitars. Made by the luthiers at Gibson’s Montana acoustic guitar facility, the Lennon guitars represent three periods of the musicians life and career. The first guitar is a Vintage Sunburst that Lennon used in 1963 and 1964 to record “Please Please Me,” “With The Beatles” and “A Hard Day’s Night.” Lennon couldn’t afford to buy the original guitar and had to get a loan from Beatles manager Brian Epstein. I’m glad he did. The John Lennon J-160VS includes a 70th Anniversary John Lennon MOP signature on the headstock, a 1960?s laminated Sitka Spruce Top, mahogany... more

ESP LTD Deluxe EC-1000 Review

Written by admin on March 23, 2010 – 12:03 am -

The ESP LTD Deluxe EC-1000 guitar The first thing that caught my eye was the factory EMG pickups and quilted tops. The EC-1000 comes standard with EMG 81 and 60 pickups. The EC-1000 is very lightweight and comfortable in feel with its Mahogany body and Rosewood fret board. The metal given tone of this fine guitar will melt faces without melting your pocket book. With its screaming high’s and deep mid’s and warm bass tones the EC-1000 will steal the show. Along with the amazing pickups, the EC-1000 houses a 24-3/4? set neck with a thin U contour. The Rosewood fret board is sleek and fast to the touch. The EC-1000 come standard with 24 extra jumbo frets and abalone flag fret markers. The TonePros locking tune-O-matic bridge will keep you... more

Robert Pattinson Autographs Guitar for eBay Auction Benefiting The Midnight Mission in Los Angeles

Written by admin on March 16, 2010 – 3:35 am -

Robert Pattinson Autographs Guitar for eBay Auction Benefiting The Midnight Mission in Los Angeles Better known for his acting work as Twilight's Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson also has a passion for music. He's had a two songs on a Twilight soundtrack, but has spent most of his time focusing on his acting career, despite his desire to release his own album. So it's no surprise to find out that at the end of last year he was spotted strumming vintage guitars at Norman's Rare Guitars in Tarzana. Owner Norman Harris couldn't help but recognize just who was playing the vintage Fender Telecaster, and struck up a conversation with Pattinson. Although the actor is known for his shyness and reluctance to sign autographs, he agreed to lend his name... more

Fender Classic Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe Review

Written by admin on March 7, 2010 – 9:07 pm -

By Dave Durban, Guitarist Magazine These Wide range humbuckers are an entirely new, updated design The Thinline Deluxe combines two of the guitar world's most classic designs – the Telecaster and Gibson's ES-335. In the construction stakes Fender has excelled with all the Classic Player series guitars, but the Thinline is even better. The overall fit and finish is genuinely superb, especially considering its price. Moreover, a silky black finish is entirely blemish-free, even around the tricky f-hole. Just like the original, we have a more traditional slab Tele body – unlike the solid Deluxe there's no belly contour. However, thanks to its semi-solid design, it's light and comfortable; even lighter than many originals we've encountered. "Blues... more

Fender Classic Telecaster Deluxe Review | fender telecaster

Written by admin on February 21, 2010 – 8:04 pm -

by Dave Durban, Guitarist Magazine Why has Fender chosen to revisit the Telecaster Deluxe? "For many years the Stratocaster was more dominant," confirms Fender's marketing director Justin Norvell, "but the Tele has been gaining for several years now - all the more reason to expand our selection of Telecasters!" The Deluxe Black Dove utilizes the same template as its vibrato-equipped sibling, but this time around the name comes from Fender's DE-9000 P-90-style single-coil pickups. They certainly evoke a classic rock vibe and the black pickup covers, especially with the black three-ply scratch plate and crimson red finish, give the guitar a classic SG quality. That said we would love to see this one in sunburst. Sounds With the bridge position... more

50th Anniversary 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard

Written by admin on February 9, 2010 – 3:28 am -

50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Standard It might seem laughable, even absurd, that the guitar world’s failure to appreciate the original Les Paul would lead to its deletion from the Gibson line up after 1960, but so it often goes with creations that are so far ahead of their time. Just a few years later, scores of groundbreaking artists would discover the incomparable power of this instrument, and its premature scarcity would also make it an extremely valuable guitar while the model was really still just a toddler, thus rendering it the first collectible “vintage” electric guitar. Fast forward 50 years, and the Les Paul of 1958-’60 has become the most prized electric guitar on the planet. But to say “the” Les Paul is actually somewhat... more

Embracing the spirit of innovation and technical advancement that inspired the original Gibson Digital guitar in 2006 and Robot guitar in 2007, Gibson's Dark Fire guitar is poised to change the music industry overnight. The world's most technically advanced guitar will rock the music industry to its core and will soon become the most sought after musical instrument of its time. An Exceptional Look Gibson's flowerpot inlay graces the headstock of the Dark Fire as seen on other classic Gibson models such as the Byrdland and the 1911 F4 Mandolin.
