Written by admin on August 15, 2009 – 4:36 am -

Introduction: So you're tired of having to borrow your buddies' bass and amp (and they're probably sick of having you snag it every chance you get), or maybe you have your own, but they just aren't up to scratch. Then again, you might have a decent bass and amp, yet you want to upgrade or simply add to your arsenal. This article will give you pointers on how to go about shopping around for a new axe and amplifier. Before you rush to the music store, do some research first. Free Online Metronome To Improve Your Rhythm

Written by admin on August 9, 2009 – 6:17 am -

Some beginning guitarists have difficulty keeping in time with the rhythm while practicing. Many suggested that they would find it beneficial towards their guitar playing if a metronome could be used while they were practicing. The metronome is a great instrument that makes repeated clicking sounds at an adjustable pace and are very useful tools in marking the rhythm of a song! I did some research and found an online site that has a FREE metronome that our valued customers are able to make use of. Check it out at http://www.metronomeonline.com Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Share on technorati Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this post  Read More →

A '57-style Strat with rock sounds Simon Bradley, As a band, Maiden were honoured with a Fender Strat back in 2001 but the three new axes in this series mark the first occasion that any specific member of the six-string fusillade has been given a signature model. Buying Your First Guitar Amplifier

Written by admin on July 6, 2009 – 3:46 am -

By Dan Cross, About.com With so much attention focused on which guitars give you which sound, which guitars look the nicest, and which play the best, the lowly guitar amplifier is often ignored, especially by novice guitarists. Which is a big mistake for guitarists looking to find a great sound. The fact of the matter is; a sub-par guitar played through a great amp can still sound fairly decent, but even the best guitars, when played through a bad amplifier, sound awful. If you're considering buying your first amplifier, price will obviously be one of your primary concerns. Guitar amplifiers range in price from under $100, to multiple thousands of dollars. A common choice for first amplifiers are the very small and basic 15-watt amps such as... more

Two new limited edition guitars from Gibson

Written by admin on July 5, 2009 – 2:04 am -

Guitar manufacturer Gibson USA has unveiled two new limited edition models. The 2009 Limited Run Series Tobias Growler bass is the latest addition to the famous bass line started by Michael Tobias in the 1970s and, according to the company, promises resonance, diversity, comfort and playability. Modifications to the traditional Growler set up include the move from a bolt-on neck to one that is precision-glued - improving the tone and generating more sustain - and the use of the computerised Plek system, which ensures accurate alignment of the guitar and removes string buzz. The other new Gibson model is the 2009 Limited Run Series Les Paul Florentine with Bigsby Tailpiece. Combining traditional Les Paul features with a 1940s-style vibrato tailpiece... more

The company has suggested that the $5,649 (£4,000) instrument, which is available in Antique Custom and Antique Vintage Sunburst, is one of the most faithful reissues ever, recreating the model's famous sound through the use of 1957 Classic humbucking pickups. "Gibson Custom's limited production 1959 ES-335 Dot Reissue captures this desirable classic in greater detail than any reissue-style guitar previously produced," the official website said. The ES-335 is considered to be one of the great pioneering guitars and Gibson claims that original copies are so highly sought after that it is surpassed only by rare Explorer and Flying V models and the 1958-60... more

Fender Precision Bass vs. Jazz Bass

Written by admin on June 27, 2009 – 5:47 pm -

Fender's Precision and Jazz Basses dominate the world of bass guitars; and that's no accident! Leo Fender and his small crew invented the first electric bass guitar more than 50 years ago. And though there have been many changes to both models over the past 50 years, the new P Bass or J Bass you buy today still carries the tradition of the classic originals. So how do they differ? What makes a player choose one over the other? The primary differences can be summed up in three areas: the body, the neck and the pickups. If I said you have a beautiful body... The Precision Bass looked radical in 1951. Its deep double cutaways and forward-raked design was like nothing the guitar world had seen. And it preceded the Stratocaster (which has a similar... more
